Dominant Pilot Recovery in Is-95 Cdma Systems Using Repeaters

چکیده
We investigate the use of repeaters to combat the problem of pilot pollution in IS-95 CDMA systems. For the purpose, we have formulated the problem into a manageable optimization model and suggested a greedy-type algorithm that determines the number and locations of repeaters needed. Simulation studies have been carried out by applying the algorithm to an actual CDMA network in which pilot pollution was present. The simulation results have been veri ed by eld trials performed on the same area. They indicate that, by recovering a dominant pilot, repeaters are able to cope with the pilot pollution problem, thus improving call quality. Since the cost of installation and eld maintenance for repeaters is relatively low, our results show that the repeater is is a very e cient and cost-e ective way to mitigate the e ects of pilot pollution in IS-95 CDMA systems.

متن کاملBit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)
In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...
متن کاملNonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems
Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of ZF Pre-Coder and Extended Joint Channel Estimation Method in Downlink CDMA with HPA
In the down link scenario of code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, multi user detectors (MUDs) such as linear de-correlating detector (LDDs) provide satisfactory symbol error rates (SERs) at the expense of much increased complexity, they require all active users’ spreading sequences, which is impractical from privacy point of view. To overcome this impracticality, a simple matched filte...
متن کاملPilot-assisted channel estimation in MC-CDMA for future mobile cellular systems
The effect of two different pilot-assisted channel estimation techniques on BER in Multi-Carrier CDMA (MCCDMA) is considered. The first technique involves sending both data and pilot symbols in the same OFDM symbol. The second technique involves sending data and pilot symbols in separate OFDM symbols. In both cases multi-access interference is present. Simulations of both systems in a UMTS mult...
